Blog Enrty 002: Dear summer,
There is so much I want to tell you.
I know I am one of the very few who doesn’t enjoy the summer heat, the beach, and the south’s crazy humidity.
But with that out of the way, I do have some serious thoughts I’d thought to share.
Summer, teach me how to be humble. I remember tuning in to an online UPPERROOM YouTube livestream a few weeks back that still perinates my heart. I was worshipping from my desk chair, sitting down in front of the stream and just rocking back and forth. This chair was passed down, as well as the desk that came with it from my grandpa when he had passed. The best way to describe the chair is not the most comfortable. The cushion is thin and anytime you move or shift your weight on it, it’ll creak, oh, and how the back rest can move left to right. So, this old desk chair was what held me in the time of worship with the online congregation and I heard the Holy Spirit tell me,
“You’re being humbled with the chair you’re sitting in.”
That completely took me out of my rocking, and I stayed still, trying to grasp what it truly means to me. I can talk about this chair, complaining about it, without even thinking about how it has never given out on me and fulfilled its purpose for so many years. It’s been passed down from a generation before me. God’s love will always fulfill its purpose, no matter what condition you’re in. Throughout the book of Psalms, we are continually reminded of the steadfast love the Lord has for his people. No matter what his chosen people did. That was their prayers when they were in despair. One phrase is used often but finds a way to teach me,
“…For his steadfast love endures forever.”
His steadfast love. If you don’t know what steadfast love means, Google can tell you that it means “Resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering.”
Go read Psalms 25:10 for yourself. It will remind you that you are not alone. Even if those plans you made with your friends don’t work out last minute. When the rain ruins the perfect pool day. When you get overwhelmed with summer schoolwork or get called in to cover a shift, The Lord will lead the path. He is our guide to the sanctified girl summer.
In other hopes, I hope to enjoy all the audiobooks my phone has to offer and enjoy all the iced matcha lattes and coffees my shop has to offer. To enjoy more sunsets. Spend quality time with my family and the community at my church. Finish my summer semester with a good grade. Tanning is not an option for how pale I am, burning is not fun. Mornings where I can spend time with God in the secret place. I didn’t forget about the summer fashion trends I’ll debate joining.
Summer, I wish the heat didn’t come along with your season but I’ll try to enjoy the memories I make and take TONS of photos!
Keep pouring,
Khalie x
