BLOG ENTRY 029: Summer Plans
Now that I’m back from the trenches of my spring semester (accounting almost took me out) and decided to only take one class during the summer (I’ve told everyone that I was going to take a ‘break’) and I have some fun plans for my summer, and it wouldn’t be a plan if I didn’t tell you! Here’s a list of things I’m excited to do this summer!
I already like to listen to audiobooks a lot but this summer I want to read more paperback books! As I’m writing this, I am almost done with a book I got from an old book sale called ‘Gatsby’s Girl‘ It’s super fast-paced which helps when you’re stuck in a long car ride. By the time this blog is up, I’ll probably be done with it! I need to go over my endless tbr and pick some to buy paperback. One that I will be reading Emily Henry’s new book, ‘Funny Story’ and it’s set in Michigan (my home state) and one of the characters is a librarian! Next time I’m at Target, it’ll be in my hands. I have considered buying a kindle but I’m not too sure. If anyone has one let me know what you think!
2. Watch more movies
YouTube does not miss with the free movies they have. My goal is to watch a new movie every week. I hope this gets me to set my focus off of school, work, and church. Once I sit down, I am invested but I am rather picky in terms of what movies I like. The last movie I watched was ‘What If’ on YouTube. I enjoyed the light-hearted and whimsy of this rom-com! If you guys have recommendations send them over on Instagram @pouringpriaseandcoffee. Who knows, maybe I’ll create a Letterboxd account. Or I might binge a new TV show, I’ll come back to you on that.
3. Make more content
I haven’t really made videos like I used to for Instagram Reels but since I’ll have a little more time in my hands, I want to focus on my personal content. My twin sister is my biggest motivator, always pushing me to make content, she always says stuff like, “You do so much for others but you need to do something for yourself”. Which is true. I’m currently brainstorming some ideas of content I can do across Instagram and TikTok. I used to make get ready with me videos but I hope to shift it to other things I like to do like the things I just listed and some things that I think would be cool to share. I know what I make, others will find agreeable. This is my biggest challenge for myself this summer.
4. Hang Out With Friends
I want to plan thrifting and coffee dates with my girlfriends and with spring semester finally done, we can make it happen! I want to make sure my summer is filled with the sweetness of laughter coming from my best friends. I will also plan some activities with my coworkers during the summer months because we have some ideas planned and I can’t wait to live in those moments with my girl gang. Right now, I don’t have many plans so we shall see what the summer brings.
5. Discover new hobbies
One hobby I want to start is candle making! As many candles as I buy when I’m at Target, Tj Maxx, or HomeGoods, I should start making my own. I think these will make cool gifts to friends and family or for any occasion to be honest. I also love making collages so I’ll fill in my new journal with collages and journal prompts (I’ll start these again this upcoming Sunday). Collecting records is a hobby I don’t partake in as much as I should, but I love opening a vinyl just to hear it in a new way than streaming. I have found birds to be exciting. Yes, you read that right. Waking up early to open the window and hear the birds call for one another is so special to me. I have an app which can identify bird calls and track them and learn more about the ones in your region. I plan on getting a bird feeder and some seeds to place near my porch so I can see them. I got another book from the old book sale mentioned earlier about the birds of America and the illustrations are so beautiful! Even the book cover is covered in bird feathers! As you can tell, I do think about getting a new hobby maybe a little too much…
These are all the ideas I’ve had for my summer, outside from school, work, and ministry work at church! I pray that you find one of these to add to your list of things you want to do and let me know what your plans are for the summer because I won’t end up doing a lot of traveling this year lol.
