BLOG ENTRY 026: Where I’ve Been

It’s been a while since I last posted a blog entry & this is a good time to tell you all the memories and milestones that have happened!

what i’ve been up to:

I have been busy with school, as I cram all of my work to be done for the week in the span of the days that I’m off, which is two to three. Is it paying off in my accounting class? Not so much…

I also have been trying to do more things by myself again! I went thrifting a few weeks ago and I realized how much I miss it! Going out to do things by myself isn’t a chore to me, but something I am working on to prioritize each week. If it’s going to a coffee shop to get schoolwork done or having coffee dates with friends, I am pouring onto others as well as myself. It has been so sweet to get to know the girls in my community on a personal level than just on a Thursday night or Sunday morning at Church.

On the other hand, I’ve been carried away with too much screentime, to be fair though, I am managing a few accounts for church and now for the coffee shop I work at (started today!!) as well as being a leader at my young adult group. I try to hang out with my sister, Savannah once or twice a week when our schedules align. I know that we literally live together, but my work schedule isn’t the same every week and doing something together is essential. I don’t make the rules. Lately, falling asleep has become difficult and stress couldn’t be in the forefront of my mind. I worry about what I can do for others before worrying about myself.

I am getting back into the groove of making more content and reading the word daily. I like to have my quiet time right before going to bed to set my mind at ease knowing that God is working on my behalf, and He can listen to my thoughts, worries, and many prayers I have. One thing I’ve been loving is UPPERROOM’S prayer sessions on YouTube. It’s spontaneous worship yet it feels so personal. I aspire to sing to the Lord my praises without memorizing the structure of a contemporary song and more about the scripture and being in His presence.

I’m also training for a 5K???? I haven’t done one since 2016 and I never trained for my first one so now I am running a mile on a treadmill a few times a week! I’ve been tracking my time, speed, and incline each time. I love running! I used to run when I was in middle school and now get to listen to music and run along to it! I can’t wait to run the 5k with my coworker, since she told me that she would do it with me before she leaves the state.

In my mind, there hasn’t been anything else new or old thoughts resurfacing. Maybe more than anything I’ve mentioned before, I think I’ve been trying to have more meaningful conversations and being more thoughtful of the things I say. I want to speak life over my friends and encourage them. I don’t want to come off as something less than I am and not be so much in my head. I pray to be more present to the people I surround myself with, as I am listening more than I am responding or waiting to verbalize my next thoughts.

I pray that you are able to reflect during this time over your life and find the moments to soak in and press on towards. Pour onto others as well as yourself and find the time to do so. Make plans with friends or do an activity you would normally ask your friends to do with you and do them on your own. Ask the Lord what He’s been trying to lay on your heart. This month is not over, and Valentine’s is just around the corner, there’s time to do the things that fill your life with love.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading! I am changing my posting schedule instead of every Monday to every other Monday. This will give me more time to write more intentionally and still pour into the positions and moments in every way I can.

keep pouring,

khalie, x
